Just nak bagi tau akhir2 nie banyak request for nasi ayam special Mak Andak. Gamaknya sedap la tu. Or semo org dok bajet2. Ya la Dubai World pun bole bungkus. Jangan kita jadi nasi bungkus sudah.

Anyways enjoy the school holidays. Kalo sesape yang lahir bulan Disember ni janganla lupa call us kalo nak buat birthday. You can have ala melayu and also ala western... ikut selera masing2. Awal Muharram ni insyallah buat kenduri. Nak pasang azam baru.

Wise Man Say..........

Dear All,
In our pursuit of happiness there's always those stumbling blocks in life. But ya'll ever realise that it was not so when we were young. Yup that's the power of youth. You just "feel" more and the smallest things are "I'd die if I cant ave it". Course it drives our folks crazy like its driving us nuts with our kids today. But its that passion and drive that makes the world go round.

Remember Elvis singing " Wise Man say only fools rush in.... but i cant help falling in love with you." As we grew up, our generation saw too many wise men who made remarks such as dont do this or that or u wont get along with him/her so why try. Most of these statements are oxymoron and just contradict each other. A lot of badwill in the world guys. The fact is I wouldn't have married Mak Andak and we wont be here serving u great dishes if it was up to them. Yup.... sometimes we just need to be fools and rush in.

Wanna have fine dining, drive a fast car, take a trip overseas. JUST DO IT. Nobody lives forever guys. Lets be fools and rush in... coz Its great to be in LOOOOOVE especially with Mak Andak.

Living with Pasion

Salam All,
Syawal's nearly over. Food,food , food everyday. And look, we just cant tell the difference between a weekend and a weekday coz jam222 kat KL ni. We just cant get enough with the celebration of life. But as they say every good thing has to end. But it need not be so. Everyday could be Syawal... that's Living with Passion. and that's how we see LIFE.

Another favourite of mine from Calvin Coolidge...

The point we are trying to make is that some of you folks have been all over in the past 3 weeks. And there's that little voice in your head that says, " wish I could have this or that for myself and family...and not just during Syawal." Well you obviously can and nobody's stopping you from achieving your goals. As the NIKE ad says "IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING".

Letih and busy222 tak terkira le Syawal ni. Nak post comment ni pun curi2 masa. Yala everybody's got 24 hours a day. kena optimise la. Alhamdullilah Syawal ni rezeki Mak Andak murah. Order tak henti2 macam air pasang. Berkat Ramadan insyallah.

We are still taking orders so dont despair. Of course kena adjust la date tu sikit coz we dont like to dissapoint. Open House tu Kalo tak dapat nak buat kat ofis buat la kat rumah sendiri. kalo tak ton2 rumah mak ke, abang ke, kakak ke. Janji buat coz nak amik berkat guest datang bawak dosa kecik keluar.

Attenzione: Syawal's Coming

Salam All,

Believe that its been quite a while since we last posted a comment. What with the fasting month...kena kurang cakap sikit. Nak amik berkat Ramadan. Busy pun busy gak with the "more" and other gourmet requests. (mainly family la )

Syawal is just around the corner. We have requests(tempahan) all lined from 1st Syawal and practically every weekend until 1 Zulkaedah. Sekarang ni trying to fill up slots on weekdays. We got local and international quisine, sweet cakes, tikam2 and lompat tikam. u name it we got it.

We believe that you've got all your Raya guest list out by now. Setahun sekali nak gak bagi orang makan sedap. Jangan lah kita dok tahan2. Ramai yang dah rindu. If you're itching for the best Raya yet and just haven't decided on the menu, you know who to call yek...Foodbusters that's us.

So pick up that phone or as the Bros and Sis say, SMS la beb.

Business Bulan Ramadan

Salam All,
Biasa le bila bulan puasa ni banyakla bisnes tumbuh macam cendawan. Bisnes makan, bisnes hamper, kuih2, jual tupperware and oops underwear. Bila lagi nak tolak barang. Orang kita ni belanja setahun skali je coz bapak2 cannot say no to aidilfitri. So apa lagi, mak2 semo hilang akal la bershopping.

Our advice for the sellers to insyallah berjaya tapi janganlah lupa bersedekah and zakat. Bukan apa amik berkat. Yang membeli tu man2 la coz bil yang lain tu tiap2 bulan in the letter box so jangan over.

Sekali lagi kami ucapkan Selamat Berpuasa di Ramadan Al Mubarak. See u after Raya.

Kerabu Pucuk Paku Taugeh dan Kerang

Just to update u all that we have a new dish that folks cant get enough of. That's the kerabu pucuk paku kerang. The magic is in its simplicity and its just simply delicious. Memang kena dengan masak asam ikan or daging and masak lemak ikan sepat masin nenas (By the way these dishes are our hot favourites too).

So if you want a change from the usual beriyani & kuzi and nak try yang masam2 manis lak give us a tinker. You'll be delightfully surprised.

Tuna Croissants and Pate

With all the hoo ha on red and white meat these days, we have decided to switch to mesra alam dishes ie seafood. We dont reckon that they'll be getting flu anytime soon anyway. Just did an event yesterday and tea time was ala Francais with Tuna Croissants,Pastries topped with Creampuffs. Just sharing these dishes with you and would love to share our experience with you. Dont worry about the money ,we'll meet your budget. Guaranteed. Just enjoy the food.

Back to life....back to Reality

Salam to all you folks out there,

We're back. Holidays are so refreshing. Although we got hit with a massive jam on our way back to KL. Took us 7 hours to get to KL from Paka. Imagine the Highway Concessionaire telling us that it takes only 3 1/2 hours with the new lebuhraya. Just shows you that nobody's perfect. Anyways we are not gonna dwell on that issue so much. Lots of sun and swimming pool have taken all the stress away.

Now its all back to reality, we got birthdays, weddings, office and family functions all lined up and you guys are in for a really lovely surprise coz we got new flavours in our dishes. Might look the same in colour but we guarantee that the rasa is going to make you menjilat jari. So let's not waste time, pick up the phone and give us a tinker, or as the kids nowadays say sms la bros and sis. See you soon.

School Holidays are here again

Bonjour,
Rise and shine kids,school holidays are here again. The Andak family is off to Paka Trengganu for some R&R and beach sunshine. Kali ni nak makan masakan orang. Letih gak asyik masak untuk orang. But when we come back refreshed we are gonna cook something special for u folks out there. Catch our new Ayam masak Dendengs and the irresistable Mee Jawa for a change.

Kids dont just sit there with your WII, Gameboy or Playstations. Get some sun. That's what your folks did when they were your age. And it is definitely a lot healthier than zapping monsters in front of the computer screen.

AFC and Warung Kite...Standards in Food Prep

Dear All,
Was watching AFC and Warung Kite on Astro and there's always something new to learn in food prep. Notice that the food is always clean no matter where its prepared, either in the studio or your normal gerai. Ever wonder why your chicken rice is not actually the same in looks and taste as the Chicken Rice Shop? Cleaning poultry or meat is not just dumping it in water. It's actually removing that unnecessary fat and insides. By the way it really does have an effect on the taste especially if its served cold. Life is actually very complicated and we all have to admit that chicken is not just chicken. It's a lot work guys but nobody ever said that your bedtime starts from 10pm to 6 am. Bedtime is whatever time it takes to prepare an excellent meal. Get it....

Folks say that customers come and go, actually its the opposite, its the business that actually comes and goes. A customer is usually good for at least 60 years and they'll keep on coming until they drop. You see not everybody has an opinion on how the country is run or the latest fashion design but everybody has an opinion on food. Whether its a simple maggi goreng or that elaborate lamb mousaka, give it your all. Quality first. Mommy's secret recipe only works if the food prep is correctly done. And you wonder why the old girl is always tired after a meal is served to all you majesties.

At Mak Andak, we are here to stay. Just watch us run guys. We might have different opinions on the taste but you can always be sure that our food is served clean and healthy.... FYI we dont actually need a lot of sleep. Love you all. Ciao2.

Oldies.....at Madam Lim's

Dear all,
Was shopping around in the new Jusco in AU2 Keramat. Decided to check out Madam Lim's and have to tell u guys that not only the food is fantastic but the ambience and sounds in the restaurant really had an impact on my appetite.

They have songs from the 60s (Elvis, Sinatra, Platters) 70's( Carpenters, ABBA, Streisand) 80's (Starship and Journey) Just awesome. It's like walking down memory lane but with excellent gourmet. Food when you had with you're a kid, food when you're a rebellious teen and food you had while you were dating. That's 30 years of food and memories guys.

So why dont you just take the trip down memory lane especially with my all time favourite " Nothing's gonna stop us now" from Jefferson with that mee goreng Melaka special. You cant buy that feeling not with all the money in the world. Just check it out guys. You wont regret it.

Food....Made in Malaysia

Walking around KL city center I notice that there's lots of exhibitions and promotions of food... mainly food and drinks made in Malaysia. Used to only hear of Nescafe and Boh tea. Now there's a dazzling number of choices from kopitiams to Radix, Kopi Abang kuat, Ahmad tea etc.2222. Wow. These promotions are everywhere guys, in bazaars, hypermarkets, LRT stations, office buildings, bus stations. Of course the main exhibition was at PWTC. They even brought live cattle!!!! That is really giving a new meaning to the new catchphrase theme of "from the farm to the table".

Personally, I believe that what's happening is healthy and I'm proud to be malaysian. It's time that we come out with our own stuff. The Arnotts, Nestle's and Ribenas of this world also came from humble beginnings. What i'd really like to see is "Kopi Abang Kuat" making the billboards in Broadway New York. That would really be something to look forward to. Wouldn't be suprised if the New York Natives would print out a PG rating on the Billboard especially with the collapsed bed logo that comes with the brand. He..He...

Anyways to you KLites lets make our products move throughout the world. Not asking you to stand up and sing Negaraku... Just simply saying why not instead of the usual why. The Indians have done it with software so why dont we do it with foodware? Make Malaysia Proud. Buy Malaysian Products.

Italiano Supremo Cuisino

Bonjourno,
Everybody loves Italian food whether its pasta, spaghetti or pizza. believe it or not we have added these items in our menu. Ya lah tiap2 hari makan nasi pun boring gak ye. Got an old Italian friend named you wont believe, Ferrari (actually its a very common name in Bologna, that's the hometown of the Ferrari automotive family) who thought us all about Italian food although ours takde wine or any spirits. In fact we've been to Roma and Bologna although we gave Venice a pass coz tak cukup masa. Beautiful place, beautiful food and beautiful people.
Lots of olive oil and mozarella cheese to liven up your spirits plus got some great grapes and juices to blend with that awesome bolognaise. So enjoy your high tea, charity lunches or mom's day with something different this year. Arrivedeci and enjoy.

Fruits.... Tis the Season

Dear All,
Notice the grapes on sale in Jusco, Tesco, Carrefour and Giant. Great stuff , all of it shipped from all over the world. South Africa, Europe even China. And it comes in all shapes and colours , merah, hijau, ungu you name it. Dont know if u cross breed the green and purple you might just get a blue grape. That would be something to look forward to.

Anyways we just did two events last week and the request for dessert was grapes and watermelon. I believe it blends well with all that chili and ayam goreng berempah. So dont miss out on the grapes and watermelon. Tengah musim ni. Takkan tubggu musim durian je. Rugi lo... Nanti bila bulan puasa baru terkenang2. So grab that phone and give us a tinker. Food and Growing up

Food brings a lot of memories to me growing up. I remembered food from the 70's. It was always sate for big occasions. And then A&W came in with its famous drive in PJ old town.KFC came later with its finger lickin good. It was pay after you ate in those times. And they did use real plates in those times instead of the cardboard boxes today.
Food that you ate on your first date, when you won your first promotion and when you had your first baby. Food at your wedding, food that you had on 1/01/2000 (millenium day), etc., etc.
I guess that our sense of smell has strong memories as our sense of sight.
Give it a try. Try and remember the smell and aromas on those eventful days. If you have the need just give us a call, we might bring back that nostalgic memories back. Who knows you might just bring that magic back into your life. Sometimes having a video cam is not the answer to everything in the past. Cheers and be good guys.

Terimasih Surau Al Wardah

Salam,

Sekali lagi kami diberi kepercayaan dari pihak Surau Al Wardah untuk menjayakan program bagi sambutan Maulidurrasul peringkat Darul Fawwaz. Acara diadakan di Surau Al Wardah Keramat AU3 dan menunya kali ini adalah Nasi Ayam Istimewa Dapur Mak Andak.

Seronok sugguh kami melihat anak2 Darul Fawwaz menunjukkan kehebatan masing2 dari selawat keatas nabi, bacaan quran dan nyanyian nasyid mereka. Setelah selesai majliis, apa lagi anak2 memanglah lapar dan dahaga sebab dah letih mengerjakan ibadah ; terus mereka menjamu selera dan seperti biasa hidangan semua licin....

Terimakasih kami ucapkan kepada AJK Surau Al Wardah kerana memberi kepercayaan kepada Mak Andak. Letih tu memang terasa tapi semuanya hilang apabila melihat anak2 dan mak ayah amat berpuas hati dengan masakan kami. Semoga majlis tersebut diberkati Allah dan mendapat keredaannya. Insyallah.

What does it take to prepare good food

A lot of folks have asked us the same question wherever we go. This is usually during "packing up" time after even the crumbs are consumed. Actually we have never given it much thought coz we dont really really believe that our dishes are supremo than others (we still dont). In fact we are still on a learning curve and hope that we dont ever get to the stage where everything is just routine and we are more interested in the money than the dishes themselves. That wasn't why we ventured in F&B in the first place. Granted the money is important but supplying good food is really hard work ( no joke) and obviously there are so many other options of making money that's less painful.

People talk about passion and love for the job. I guess that's the main ingredient. Coz you cant do it well if you dont love it. Take tinkering cars for example. I have absolutely no love for that profession so I dont think that I can wake up every morning thinking that i'll give my all at a tyre shop.

Actually we have been dining folks for the last 8 years. We have always been surprised by the fact that people just love coming to our place coz of the food. That's when we decided to check out the F&B business. Its been a lot of fun meeting new people who just cant get enough of good food. Coming back to the main title, on a scientific level every body part is involved in preparing good food. The brain for example functions to ensure that a lot of creativity is required when preparing great cuisine. Why? Coz there's always this thing called budget!!! Just imagine catering for 200 people on something that is slightly above a shoe string budget. You obviously cant have the best ingredients but using BRAINS you can actually have the desired result rather than a make do sort of thingy. Your HEART is what makes it happens. A never die attitude and a desire to excel, to give your best in every meal so that masakan tu ada rasa la beb. The arms and legs are important to carry those Arrrgh really heavy equipment from function to function. And those oh so delicate hands to make the final critical touches that makes the dish really yummy. As they say there's no rocket science in preparing chicken rice. But a par excellence chicken rice on a limited budget requires a lot of creativity and love for hard work.

At Mak Andak, you can be guaranteed that we practise what we preach. If you look at our dishes and I mean really look at it you'll realise that a lot of love and passion has gone into making it all happen for you. So enjoy the meal and forget all your troubles. Colours and Makan

Salam all,
Research states that surrounding colours have a significant effect on our appetite. Of course if you've just came back from the artic, colours are not really the first thing on your mind. But take spicy malay food for instance. Just thinking about the sweat streaming down my back while enjoying that oh so delicious ayam goreng berempah.No,no,no I dont think that red would justify me having a second helping. Apple Green and soft pastel colours would be more appropriate. And I believe it goes well with that iced green apple juice. mmmm...

The chinese just have this fascination with anything red. I guess it goes well sebab diaorang letak banyak cuka and pickles. And colour me yellow with the mamak stalls. Of course another trademark is their giant TV screens which is switched on to ESPN all the time.

And plain wood goes well with steak and chips. I guess that wood just have that BBQ image imprinted in our minds. The McDs and KFCs just love kiddie colours. But I guess they are more in hit and runs rather than savouring textures or aromas. That's why they call em junk food.

Everything's psychological as they say. But when it comes to business people take pains to give their all to attract and that includes us. So just passa comment on the colours that you love with your makan and god willing we'll try to accomodate. Cheers and Salam and have a beautiful weekend.

Birthday Parties time Gawat2 ni

Dear All,
Gawat2 ni we recommend la that if you need to tone down your birthday parties from Mc D or the coffee house lobby, do it at the most obvious place.... home sweet home la. Maybe there's less colour tapi lagi senang sebab tak payah pikir logistik, rushing to get everything done quickly coz booking time terhad etc. etc. etc.

At Mak Andak, kita bole help with your party preparations from the menu( adult and/or kiddies)and the accessories that goes with it kerusi, meja, canopy, ballons. Pendek kata kita jadi parti planner le. Tapi dont worry price bukan macam dalam TV tu.

Berkat anak2 tu happy, murahlah lagi rezeki kita. Insyallah. So if u have the need but just dont have the time to organise just give us a tinker . Janji settle.

When was the last time you enjoyed a Watermelon

Dear All,
You read the newspapers nowadays and everything u see is crash, crash, crash. Market crash, airline crash, voter confidence crash. Even heard that a toilet bowl crashed on top of 2 foreign workers or was it a kitchen sink? Even the footie news is depressing. Somebody should go and tell Wenger and Ferguson that the whole idea of playing football is to have fun. Never heard any of our gym coaches having a heart attack just because we lost a football match. Stress, stress, stress.

You look at the bosses, the folks that say they know it all. The guys that shouts and hollers just because you need to answer nature's call during office hours. Well, well, well...... show me money now buckos. You dont really know it all do you? Do you guys really aspire to become these overstressed "Yodas"? Aw, c'mon guys, get real.

Being rich isn't just about money. I know this sounds like the old runaround cliche. But let's face it the recession really gave us a good lesson in humility. Guys, being rich is just a state of mind. When was the last time you enjoyed a watermelon. Really enjoyed it, savouring the reddest, juiciest, firmest,seed free-est, most perfect part. Could it be when we were 17? Before the credit cards, mortgage and the nappies changed our whole lives.

Fired, hired. Stuck in a job rut or scurrying up the success ladder. If you dont take time to dangle your feet over the dock and chomp into life's simple pleasures, you are letting your career overwhelm your life. Enjoy what you have, find enjoyment in the accomplishment of others. Your family. Your friends. Take pleasure in the day and dont worry too much about tomorow. That's the heart of life. Sugar is gula

Sugar is Gula.....

Dear All,
There's so much negative perception about our friend sugar. Diabetes, heart failure, migranes blah, blah, blah. Some even say world war 2. Actually I have nothing personal against miss sugar. In fact sugar makes the world go round. We really need some sweetness in these dark trying times. Macam orang tua2 kata rupa mungkin takde tapi manis ada dan pemanis nya adalah gula. And with all thats going on in the world, all of us sure need a lot more sugar in our smiles.

When I was in boarding school we used to dream of sensible desserts. Let's face it the food looks and tastes like...oh well "grub". And wallah many , many moons and years later I'm enjoying chatting with you guys about delightful pastries in a blog. Far out...

I just want to share with you guys out there the andaks special , our Creampuff. It's not sticky, doesn't leave any troublesome flakes around the house and is just absolutely portable. Sesuai di bawa melancung kemana2 atas bukit, atas gunung, tepi sungai, tepi laut etc. etc. etc or just that plain cubicle in the office. Just grab a plastic container and you're on for a delightful sugar experience. The rich cream inside is just oooozing with goodness. The recipe isn't actually rocket science but its doing the simple things well what makes our creampuff so tasty. And we do it all for you coz guess what, we just loooove makin' food look good.

Alhamdullilah kami si beri peluang sekali lagi untuk menyajikan juadah ke khalayak ramai.Kali ni lokasinya adalah di surau Al Wardah AU3. PAX ada kira2 65 kepala pada malam itu. Mak Andak gave it her all and alhamdullilah semuanya liciiiiin.

The hot favourite for the men was as usual the Kambing Kuzi while the kids gobbled up the ayam masak merah and dal ayam. Of course Pak Andak's sirap/oren & Limau nipis helped to smoothen the mutton and avoided unwanted gastronomical experiences.

Terimakasih semua kerana memberikan kepercayaan kepada kami. To all of you out there we would just love to share our mutton experience with you coz as you can guess we just looove makin' food look good. Till next time Cheers and Salam.

In fact kami suggest you try 1 lagi hot item kami ie creampuff mak andak. Kuih ni memang favourite semua existing pelanggan kami. Tak pernah kurang dari 100 unit seminggu. Kami memang pasti u takkan dissapointed. Rasa creampuff ni memang lebih dari expectation. Cubalah.

Resepi kambing masak Kuzi

Dear All,
seperti yang dijanjikan tempohari di sini dilampirkan resepi kambing masak kuzi untuk semua peminat2.

bahan A
1kg daging kambing dibasuh bersih dan diperap bersama bawang merah, bawang putih dan halia kisar, kulit kayu manis, bunga lawang dan cengkih.
bahan B
10 ulas bawang merah
2 biji bawang besar
5 ulas bawah
Bahan B hendaklah digoreng dan dikisar
bahan C
3 sudu rempah beriyani
50gm cili kering direndam & dikisar
1 sudu lada sulah
1 tin susu cair
1 boyol kecil sos tomato, garam dan gula
Hiasan
Kismis
1 biji tomato dipotong 4
1 biji bawang besar dipotong 4
daun ketumbar dihiris kasar

Cara memasak
Panaskan minyak dan letakkan 3 sudu besar minyak sapi. Masukkan perapan daging, kayu manis, bunga lawang dan cengkih. Goreng hingga bau wangi. selepas itu masukkan bahan B dan kacau rata. Masukkan bahan C sehingga mendidih dan biarkan hingga daging empuk .
Sesudah itu masukkan bahan hiasan. Jangan lupa garam dan gula secukup rasa.
Sedia untuk dihidang!!!!
Tip:- masakan ni rasanya sedikit masam dan manis. Kalau tak dapat tu kenale call kami. Sedap di makan bersama nasi dan roti. Enjoy!!!!!

Thx for the komen. Nasi beriyani tu memang menyelerakan. In fact ada org makan kat kl, pas tu tak berenti2 cakap pasal beriyani mak andak sepanjang perjalanan balik ke Klang. Sampai kat Klang sambung lagi sampai besoknya. Wow. Kami pun terkejut badak. Dont worry kitorg tak letak kas2.

On your suggestion tu include buah2an no problemo. Memang tu pun hasrat kami. Cuma kenalah pilih between buah atau kuih. Bajet beb..... Contact us soonest ok.

Dear all, I akan post a basic menu and price list untuk tatapan semua. Of course everything is negotiable. The set maainly comprise set dishes. Tapi as we did for certain individuals and Alam Maritim nasi campur pun bole jugak. Cuma price tak tetap depending on jenis lauk.
